Would your living room not look out of place in the Ikea catalog? Do you like to experiment withhip interior styles and are you completely in tune with the decoration trends of the moment? You're not the only one. Many people get their inspiration from the same places and have similar ideas with regard to the design of their home.
There are even a number of trends that we see coming back a little too often and that we would like to replace with original alternatives.
White walls create space and provide lots of light. Moreover, you can go in all directions when choosing your furniture and decoration, because white suits everything. Please note: we have also seen plenty of combinations of white with gray, beige, black and earth tones. Nobody stops you from giving your walls a more cheerful touch or going for a room-wide wall sticker.
Those who cannot yet fully let go of the white walls usually choose to give one wall a different color. Do you want to bring some color into your interior in an original way? Paint your ceiling in a different shade or choose an epoxy floor in a bright color.
Nowadays you can go anywhere and in different price ranges for a sleek designer kitchen. You open a drawer with a push of your knee and can no longer bump into protruding handles. Cons? Dirty fingerprints everywhere and it’s also harder to get rid of your wet kitchen towels. Try kitchen cabinets with original handles.
Even with the purchase of a new sofa, most of us don’t always dare to think outside of the box. We prefer to keep it to a sleek and timeless model in an inconspicuous color. Whoever wants to break this trend, makes their sofa a real eye-catcher!
Do you want to brighten up your interior with patterns and designs à la Marimekko, Stig Lindberg or Iittala? You're not the only one. Designers from the High North are constantly gaining popularity, also in our regions. Be original and choose a colorful African print, for example.
"My cousin has just the same poster in her living room," is not what you want to hear at your housewarming party. However, you can easily avoid this by purchasing unique items. Too expensive? Take a look around the flea market or ask your grandmother if she still has a nice vase in the attic. Recycling is hip!
Plants bring life to the house and provide oxygen, but we have seen some greens so often that we sigh earlier. Pancake plants, grass lilies or sanseverias in the house? Replace them with lesser known plants or even edible ones and amaze your guests. For example, grow peanuts in a glass jar or buy an aloe vera plant that you can use to make your own care products. Win-win!
